In the immortal words of Dory, the fish, “Just keep swimming,” everyone. This mantra is from the Disney/Pixar movie Finding Nemo, where a scared and overwhelmed Dory used it to give herself the strength not to give up. If that to-do list is daunting, remember to take a deep breath and just keep swimming 🙂
I hope to see you at our meeting on Friday.~Samantha

Faculty Evaluation Forum is Friday, April 8th, 11:00 – 1:00
The purpose of this forum is to give faculty another opportunity to contribute to the ongoing design of a revised evaluation process. The Shared Governance Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee Working Group will present a framework as a starting point for discussion at the forum. Driven and created by faculty, the goal of the proposed revisions in this new framework is a more meaningful, equitable, and transparent evaluation process. Faculty participation via questions, suggestions, comments, and agreements are integral to moving this work forward.

Faculty Needed to Give Input on the New Disability Management System
SAS is in the process of implementing a new disability management system called AIM. It will essentially create a “one-stop shop” for students, faculty, and SAS staff regarding all things disability. Two full-time faculty volunteers are needed to contribute their opinions on the system, determine what information is on an accommodation letter, and craft verbiage to make the accommodations clear.

Council and Committee Spotlight
Senate Salary and Benefits Committee
The Senate Salary and Benefits Committee studies matters relating to faculty salaries and non-salary employee benefits, brings recommendations to the February Senate meeting about such matters, and (if so directed by the Senate) communicates with appropriate administrators about the same. Member reflection: “I’ve had a good experience so far working in this committee. I was able to provide my input and participate in the committee process.”
Senate Bylaws Committee
The Senate Bylaws Committee considers Bylaws revisions as needed or requested and brings recommendations to the Senate about the same. Member reflection:Serving on the Bylaws Committee has given me the opportunity to work with highly dedicated and talented faculty for the betterment of the Senate. The Bylaws Committee recommends revisions of the Bylaws to the Senate as well as advises the Senate on conducting its affairs in accordance with the Bylaws. Both revising and advising involve higher-order thinking, creative problem solving, and effective communication both within the committee and between the committee and the Senate. It’s been a challenging and enriching experience!.”
