Senate Standard
What a week it has been! All of our practice pivoting and navigating through chaotic situations was again put to use in the midst of what is becoming interesting Central Texas winter weather. Even today some of our students and colleagues are without power and others are trying to navigate extensive clean up work at home. I hope that self-compassion and grace giving will help us all navigate through this storm aftermath.  This Standard is full of information about current opportunities to get involved — to give input and feedback and to participate in new college wide opportunities. I hope that as you are able you will consider these options and contribute your voice! And, if there is a way you would like to be more involved in the college but don’t know if that opportunity exists, reach out to me and let’s chat about what could be possible!

Faculty Opportunity: Workday Student Information System (SIS) Implementation Team
As ACC moves forward to implement the next phase of Workday, your help is needed!

To begin with, a small instructional core team of both faculty and staff who will be fully dedicated to the Workday SIS implementation from start to finish is being formed. This group will be fully dedicated to implementation activities, from attending all meetings, supporting business process reviews and mapping, helping in planning and strategy, and engaging with colleagues to make key decisions. There will be other opportunities to participate in SIS planning, but this is a great opportunity to contribute the faculty perspective to the development of part of our critical college infrastructure.

More information is available in this document. If you are interested in applying but have more questions, you can reach out to Dr. Gaye Lynn Scott at [email protected] or to Mike Midgley at [email protected]
Faculty Opportunity: Help Conduct Student Focus Groups
ACC’s Office of Institutional Research and Analysis (OIRA) is conducting a series of student focus groups this spring and is looking for ACC faculty & staff to serve as focus group facilitators and notetakers/technical support.

For this round of focus groups, OIRA is seeking to better understand and elevate the voice and experiences of our Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, and low-income students. Specifically, the interview protocol focuses on learning more about students’ learning experiences, what motivates students to engage in learning, how peer relationships impact learning, and what encourages students to engage in academic support services.

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out this google form by February 10.

OIRA will host training sessions for the focus group facilitators the week of February 13; prior experience is optional. All focus groups will be conducted via Zoom and will take approximately 90 minutes to complete. OIRA plans to hold the focus groups between February 22 and March 3. After the focus groups are held, OIRA will complete the analysis and write up the findings.
