I hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday and are staying strong here in this final push before spring break. There are some great opportunities for engagement this week and in the coming month including today’s listening session with Provost Umphrey and our first offering of Mental Health First Aid training for faculty. And if we don’t have a chance to engage before next week, may your time spent with an out-of-office email reply on be dedicated to the activities and people who bring you joy!

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Learning Opportunity for Faculty
As faculty have been sharing since early in the pandemic, we have been dedicating an increasing amount of time to supporting our students’ mental health needs. Senate leadership has been working to expand learning opportunities for faculty around mental health support for students and we are excited to announce the offering of Mental  Health First Aid training.

Mental Health First Aid Training facilitated by clinicians from Integral Care

Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Eastview Campus
8:00 am – 5:00 pm
or
Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Riverside Campus
8:00 am – 5:00 pm

The day-long learning experience is customized for higher education. Faculty participating will develop the skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care.

More information about MHFA for Higher Education training is available here. A sample agenda (that will be revised for our timeline) is also available for reference.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided by the Faculty Senate. And all faculty who participate in this learning opportunity and commit to sharing what they have learned with their department, division, learning community, or other campus group, will be eligible to receive a $250 stipend funded by ACC’s Office of the Provost.

Space is limited to 30 faculty members per session (you need only attend one of the two days), so RSVP now to reserve your spot!
