Happy Day After Valentine’s Day. I hope that everyone is still feeling the love! You will notice a new section in our Standard beginning this week, a Councils and Committee Spotlight. The purpose of this addition is to inform all of our full-time faculty of the extraordinary work done in committees and councils across ACC. Late February is the time that instruction begins planning for the Fall. Class selection is looming on the horizon and I encourage you to factor in college service into your plans, be it in the 22-23 Faculty Senate or a council or committee. Take a moment to take a deep breath and enjoy the beautiful day.~SamanthaSamantha Croft, Ph.D.[email protected]

Council and Committee Spotlight
Academic & Student Affairs Council
ASAC makes recommendations to the Chancellor regarding district-wide policies, administrative rules and procedures related to academic and student affairs. As a council, it also responds to recommendations received from a wide range of committees covering subjects such as curriculum, student rights, faculty development, and advising.  Member reflection: “This Council discusses topics that have a huge influence on all things instruction and student affairs. I feel like I am making a real impact by lending my voice and energy to this group.” Administrative Services CouncilASC makes recommendations to the Chancellor regarding district-wide policies, administrative rules and procedures related to facilities, operations, and administrative services. As a council, it also responds to recommendations received from committees regarding Information Technology and safety and environmental management. Member reflection: “I’ve served on this Council for many years. Many members are ready to rubber-stamp whatever comes our way. I believe that it is essential to protect the college from inappropriate or poorly formulated rules. For me, it’s a source of pride to be able to support the college in this way.”
