Thank you to everyone who responded to the poll last week. I was thrilled to see how many of you are doing well and getting into a new groove. We are approaching the third anniversary of our COVID online pivot. To me, it simultaneously seems like yesterday and a lifetime ago! While these years have been trying, our resilience has shown through. What has motivated you and given you the strength to overcome the challenges and exhaustion of our COVID world? My question for you today is, what has kept you going? Stay warm everyone.

Council and Committee Spotlight
Curriculum and Programs Committee
The Curriculum and Programs committee serves as the approving body for matters relating to curriculum. The Committee serves as the recommending body for college-wide issues relating to curriculum such as new program development, new course development, compliance with accrediting bodies and state rules and mandates, master syllabus content, general education and core curriculum updates, and other matters relating to curricular offerings.Member reflection: “I have served on this committee for nearly 10 years, and I can honestly say it’s one of the highlights of my work. The learning curve is very steep at first, but what I’ve learned from my experience serving on it has informed every aspect of my job. Serving on this committee is also extremely meaningful as its focus is on the heart of our institution: the rich and varied curriculum and programs created by our talented faculty.” Student Rights and Responsibilities CommitteeThe Student Rights and Responsibilities committee establishes a set of student expectations regarding scholastic integrity and reviews procedures related to student complaints and appeals.Member reflection:I have been impressed by the lively conversations that this group is willing to have with one another. The individuals on this committee are passionate about balancing the rights of students, staff, and faculty while identifying ways to increase a positive learning experience for students versus a more punitive one.”College Accessibility CommiteeThe College Accessibility committee reviews accessibility policies, practices, and services to develop strategies and recommendations for district-wide implementation. Members can identify areas of improvement and implement strategic plans that benefit our students and employees, especially individuals with disabilities.Member reflection: “I have been on this committee for over a year. It is very organized, with Steve Christopher leading the group with assistance from Lisa Lopez. The agendas are sent out in advance, as well as calendar invitations. The mission of the group is clear.”
