Council and Committee Spotlight
Assessment and Advising Committee
The Assessment and Advising Committee develops and makes recommendations regarding college-wide Instructional testing, assessment, advising and placement policies and procedures, including developing policies and procedures for the use of Instructional Testing Centers. Member reflection: “Excellent professional engagement with faculty and administrators on the logistics of assessing and advising students.  Not a simple task and thankfully there are many sophisticated minds in the room.  I have found that the best interest of the student has always been first and foremost and an absence of personal agendas.”
 Distance Education Committee
The Distance Education Committee reviews policies and guidelines and recommends changes to support quality distance education programs including assisting distance education student support services and faculty development and resources. Member reflection: I have truly enjoyed serving on the Distance Education for the past few years.  It has helped me learn more about distance education practices, bringing Quality Matters to the college and our department, and helping to review guidelines for Faculty DE practice.  I think serving on this committee has helped me grow as a faculty member and increased my understanding of the role of committee membership.  I encourage everyone to serve on at least one committee.”
Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee
The Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee develops and recommends a comprehensive, valid, and reliable faculty evaluation process for ACC and recommends professional faculty activities and needed resources. Member reflection: “I am not completely happy with the current faculty evaluation process. That’s why I joined the committee to understand the current process and hopefully provide some useful feedback to make it better. ”
