Senate Standard
Esteemed Faculty,

The semester is now in full swing, and I hope you had a good start this semester.

This ended up being a LOOONG Standard edition.  To help navigate, I added a table of content.

Included in this Standard:
* Update on faculty evaluations and call for content experts by October 16.
* Faculty Center Advisory Group is looking for applicants
* A new search committee for the Associate Vice Chancellor of Instruction – Workforce division
* Vidgrid to Panopto migration of videos
* ACCTV survey on programming
* Faculty Senate nominations are open until September 28
* Faculty Comments needed bu September 29 on two Administrative rules

Our next Senate meeting is on October 13 from noon to 1:30 pm in HLC (Room TBD).  It will be in hybrid mode. We will have food for those who attend in person.  Please RSVP if you decide to join in person or online. We hope to see you there.

Faculty Evaluations: Update and Call for Content Experts
Update on Faculty Evaluation and Thanks!
Thanks everyone for your participation in getting the revised faculty evaluation process approved. You can find the new Administrative Rule for Faculty Evaluation and the accompanying Guidelines and Procedures.

Call for Content Experts to Assist with Student Course Evaluation Questions Revision
Interested in assisting with revising student course evaluations? The Student Course Evaluation Workgroup needs your help.  We need 50 experienced faculty, some from each AOS (Area of Study), who understand the breadth of the College’s course offerings to serve as content experts. Those willing to help will complete a survey of questions, suggesting additions and edits to ensure that the questions are actionable, valid, as free as possible from bias, and measure the correct aspect of teaching. We anticipate it may take 8 to 10 hours to complete the survey.  Go here to sign up by October 16.

The questions being reviewed are for the first round of course evaluation revisions, lecture courses (F-2-F, ONL, HYD, HYC, DLS, FLX). In Spring 2024, we’ll begin to develop and vet questions for our other teaching modalities like labs, practicums, and clinicals. OIRA (Office of Institutional Research and Analytics)  has assisted the Workgroup in developing a process that includes student feedback and more extensive piloting of the questions late fall and early spring.

Please feel free to send this request to any faculty member you think might be interested. Adjuncts will be compensated for their work.  For more information, contact Marcus McGuff, [email protected] or Gale Spear, [email protected]

Important note: Nothing changes in our faculty evaluation process or portfolio for this year.  Beginning in Fall 2024, faculty will follow the new portfolio requirements. The first evaluation using the new process is scheduled for Fall, 2025.

Faculty Needed
Search Committee –  Associate Vice Chancellor of Workforce Education
Dr. Gretchen Riehl, Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) of Instruction for our workforce division, will be leaving at the end of the academic year. The college is  already in the process of searching for a new AVC, and faculty are needed to be part of the search committee. The person we hire for this position will have a say on the direction of the workforce division.

If you are interested in serving in this committee, please fill out this form.  Two names will then be chosen by the Senate leadership and sent to Dr. Gaye Lynn Scott, the organizer of the search. For more information on the job posting, follow this link.  The deadline for volunteering is October 1.
Migration of Videos: Vidgrid to Panopto
Vidgrid is going away at ACC.  We are adopting Panopto to house any videos created by the faculty.

Here is a reminder of some important dates in the process:
All videos housed in Vidgrid will be available until January 12, 2024.  You should have access to them until then.
* The migration of the videos (with more than 5 views) from Vidgrid to Panopto will be automated in
* October and the process will be finished in November.
* Once the video content has migrated to Panopto, make sure you update all of your video links ahead of the Spring semester.
* Any issues/concerns/questions, contact Educational Technology Support at [email protected] or 512.223.0111.
ACCTV Needs Your Input

ACCTV is pushing out a content survey to students, faculty, and staff to get a sense of what kind of content and programming folks want to see on this channel!  We need your help!

See the survey here, or you can click on the slide below which contains a QR code to the survey.

The folks at ACCTV are trying to get 200 responses by the end of October to get a good lay of the land for future programming and planning of the channel.  And they definitely want to hear from our faculty.

If you have any questions, please contact Carrye Glazar at [email protected].
