Clinical Affiliations & Partnerships in Health Sciences

Overview

Health Sciences programs include significant hands-on learning in clinical settings. Students cannot develop their skills in these programs without the opportunity to apply those skills with patients under faculty supervision. ACC’s clinical partnerships around Central Texas are key to a learning infrastructure and applied learning.

Accomplishments

  • During the last year, we have added 11 new clinical affiliation agreements and partnerships with area healthcare and community organizations and academic institutions in order to support student experiential learning, gaining competencies, and workforce and professional development of the local healthcare workforce.
  • We have also implemented earn and learn opportunities for Health Science students such as internships and apprenticeships.

ACC students benefit from more than 400 clinical partnerships. An additional 33 community partnership requests in-process.

Impact

We currently have more than 400 active clinical partnerships.

  • 33 new requests are in-process, getting us closer to 500 community partners.
  • More than 1,000 health science students’ clinical needs are supported through these affiliations every year.

Next Steps

Continue to expand partnership and clinical affiliation agreements as we expand our health science programs to the south region.
