New Degrees & Programs

Overview

ACC believes in responding to the needs of our community. This responsiveness includes creating new instructional programs as needed to reflect the changing local economy and the expectations of our partners in K-12, business, and industry.

Accomplishments

The college implemented the following programs in fall 2022:

  • Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Advanced Manufacturing
  • Toyota T-TEN Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Technology Apprenticeship Program

The following new degrees have been approved this year by the college Curriculum and Programs Committee, the ACC Board of Trustees and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for implementation in the 2023-24 academic year:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Cybersecurity
  • Associate of Applied Science in Building Construction with an Electrical specialization
  • Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts Farm-to-Table specialization
  • Associate of Arts in Musical Theater
  • Advanced Technical Certificate in Mammography

Impact

Enrollment in new programs for fall 2022:

  • BAT in Advanced Manufacturing: Fifteen students are enrolled in upper division courses and three other admitted students are completing their lower-division coursework for a total of 18 accepted into the program. We currently are recruiting for fall 2023.
  • A.A.S. in Automotive Technology – T-TEN specialization: 15 students; now recruiting for fall 2023, Cohort 2

Next Steps

  • Recruit and admit students to all new programs scheduled to begin in the fall of 2023
  • Develop and launch curriculum for all new programs
  • Monitor enrollment in new programs initiated in fall 2022 and adjust recruiting efforts as needed
