Online Course Redesign

Overview

The Online Course Redesign program is a comprehensive professional development opportunity designed to support faculty in the (re)design and (re)development of their online and hybrid courses. The program provides the context, dialogue, and support to enhance the quality and effectiveness of our online offerings. Two phases are designed to empower faculty with the tools and guidance to create engaging and impactful online learning experiences. In phase one, faculty members complete an eight-hour workshop on the Quality Matters rubric and standards. They collaborate closely with an experienced instructional designer to develop their courses in the Blackboard learning management system.

Accomplishments

  • 1,166 faculty members have completed the Quality Matters workshops since we began offering them; 535 are full-time faculty, while 631 are adjunct faculty representing various areas of studies.
  • 688 faculty members have completed redesigning their courses to align with the Quality Matters standards. These redesigned courses are now offered in the course schedule, providing students with enhanced learning experiences. The remaining faculty are at different stages of the redesign process, working to meet the Quality Matters standards.
  • As of April 2023, 51 ACC online courses had achieved the national Quality Matters certification. These numbers highlight the significant progress made in improving the quality of our courses and promoting student success through the Quality Matters framework. We commend the dedication and effort of our faculty in embracing this initiative and striving for excellence in their course design and delivery.
