Exams

- There will be four semester tests and a comprehensive final exam and ATI Practice and Content Mastery Exams.
Dosage Calculation Exam
- When: See course calendar.
- Where: HLC 2.1410
- Students must successfully pass this exam with a score of 90% or higher to administer medications in the clinical setting and continue in RNSG 1262. Students have 3 opportunities to demonstrate proficiency on the Dosage Calculations Exam.
Level Mastery Skills Check-off
- When: See course calendar.
- Where: HLC Nursing Skills Lab
- What to bring: Students must bring skills equipment and wear appropriate clinical attire (ACC uniform not required).
- Notes: The mandatory comprehensive Mastery Skills Check-off over previously learned skills will include a sterile procedure, medication administration, and documentation.
- Any of the following may be included for mastery: medical administration (IM, SQ, IVP, IVPB) catheterization (Foley), tracheostomy care, and suctioning.
- Each student will receive a patient scenario and complete the skills performance within 30 minutes, including documentation.
- Students have 3 opportunities to demonstrate proficiency on the Mastery Skills Check-off.
Clinical Schedule

- Notes: Clinical experience consists of two five-week rotations divided into a pediatric and an obstetric rotation. Students who are simultaneously enrolled in the Mental Health course will have three 5-week rotations. Changes to clinical rotation placements are not allowed.
- Each clinical rotation has a separate orientation component.

Pediatric Rotation
- When: Pediatric clinical days consist of 12 hours per week. See clinical rotation schedule on Blackboard for specific information and additional simulation clinical times.
- Where: Dell Children’s Medical Center, community nursing, and simulation activities at HLC lab.
- Specific groups assigned the week before semester begins.
Obstetric Rotation
- When: OB clinical days consist of 12 hours per week. See clinical rotation schedule on Blackboard for specific information and additional simulation clinical times.
- Where: Dell Children’s Medical Center, community nursing, and simulation activities at HLC lab.
- Specific groups assigned the week before the semester begins.
