Exams

- There will be four semester tests and a comprehensive final exam.
Dosage Calculation Exam
- When: Tuesday, January 25, 2022, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
- Where: CEC C2.127
- Students must successfully pass this exam with a score of 90% or higher to administer medications in the clinical setting and to continue in any Level 3 course. You have 3 opportunities to demonstrate proficiency on the dosage and calculations exam.
HESI OB/Pediatric Specialty Exam
- When: Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
- The HESI Specialty Exam is mandatory for the Spring 2022 semester.
Level Mastery Skills Check-off
- When: Due Sunday, January 23, 2022 by 11:59 p.m.
- Where: Virtual submission
- The mandatory comprehensive Mastery Skills Check-off over previously learned skills will include a sterile procedure, medication administration and documentation.
- Any of the following may be included for mastery: medical administration, catheterization (Foley), intravenous medications, and tracheostomy suctioning.
- Each student will receive a patient scenario and complete the skills performance within 30 minutes, including documentation.
- Each student must successfully complete the Mastery Skills Check-off to continue in any OB/PEDI Level 3 course. You have three attempts to pass Mastery Skills.
- Students must record their Mastery Skills Check-Off in the lab at EVC and submit their recording virtually by the designated deadline. A lab sign up sheet will be sent to students at the beginning of the semester.
Clinical Schedule
- When: Refer to the clinical rotation schedule posted in Blackboard for clinical sites, days and faculty.
- Clinical experience consists of two five-week rotations divided into a pediatric and an obstetric rotation. Students who are co-enrolled in RNSG 2213/2160 will also attend a five-week mental health clinical for the third five-week rotation. Changes to clinical rotation placement are not allowed.
Pediatric Rotation
- When: 12 hours per week
- Where: Dell Children’s Medical Center; simulation activities will be completed at RRC.
Obstetric Rotation
- When: 12 hours per week
- Where: St. David’s South Austin Medical Center or Seton Medical Center Austin; simulation activities will be completed at RRC.
