RNSG 1140 (Prerequisite)
RNSG 1140 is a skills-based prerequisite course that must be completed prior to the RNSG 1517, RNSG 1363 and RNSG 1270 courses.

- Mastery Skills Check-off:
- All students will be required to pass a comprehensive Mastery Skills Check-off to show competency in skills learned previously in RNSG 1105. This will take place at the beginning of the course. You must pass the competency checkoff by the third attempt to continue in the program. Please see the Clinical Nursing Skills Performance Mastery Checklists for more information about these skills.
- You will need to be prepared to perform all of the RNSG 1105 skills: applying and removal of PPE, enemas, low volume or retention, applying elastic anti-embolism stockings (TED hose), and incentive spirometer procedures. You must also demonstrate proficiency in performing all entry and exit measures found on the Professional Nursing webpage: Safety Measures for All Clinical Skills Performance.
- You will be given a scenario that incorporates some but not all of the skills listed above and will demonstrate the skills for the instructor with a partner.
- Please plan to go to Open Lab and practice! The lab is open in the summer. More information including lab hours are found on the Nursing Skills Lab page.

RNSG 1517
- Orientation: August 19, 2021, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- When: Mondays 8 – 10:30 a.m. (Lab 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.), and Tuesdays 8 – 10:30 a.m.

- Dosage Calculation Exam: All students will be required to pass a Dosage Calculation Exam at the beginning of the course.

RNSG 1363: Clinical
- Orientation: Date and time TBA by individual clinical instructor.
- When: Clinical will begin the first week of class. You must be available for the first and second week of class to attend Skills Practice Lab and Mastery Check-off if you took RNSG 1140 any time other than the current summer semester. Dates and times TBA.
- Where: RNSG 1517 Blackboard Collaborate
- Schedule: Clinical at the clinical facility is anticipated to start the third week of September. Clinical days and hours vary but are mainly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. Times may be either 12-hour shifts, or both day and evening shifts.
- Practice lab for Mobility students who took RNSG 1140 in the Spring and Summer will be required. Dates and times TBA, though will occur in the first week of class.
- Mastery Skills Check-off: All students who took RNSG 1140 any time prior to the current summer semester will be required to pass a comprehensive Mastery Skills Check-off to show competency in skills learned previously in RNSG 1140.
