Orientation
- When: Thursday, January 12, 2023, 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Where: RRC 3336 (Building 3000, 3rd floor). More information will be posted to the Blackboard class site when it becomes available.
- What to bring: Paper and pen or electronic device for notes. Wear appropriate street clothes.
- If you have not already done so, be sure to activate your ACC Gmail account, or you may miss important communication from your instructors.
- PLEASE NOTE that orientation and class/lab/clinical/simulation schedules are subject to change due to the college’s response to COVID-19.
Class Schedule
- When: Mostly Mondays, 8:00 am – 2:30 pm. There are some classes schedule for Wednesdays, 8:00 am – 11:00 am.
- Where: RRC 3336 (Building 3000, 3rd floor), unless otherwise specified.
- Calendar: Level 1 RRC (Google Calendar). This calendar is subject to change each semester. The final calendar will be discussed at orientation.
Skills Labs
- When: Tuesdays, times as assigned, either 8:00 am – 12:00 pm OR 11:30 am – 3:30 pm.
- Where: RRC 3219.03 & RRC 3219.04 (Nursing Skills Labs), located in Building 3000, 2nd floor.
- What to bring: Lab module information, skills checklists, watch with second hand, lab kit (when assigned), stethoscope/scissors as assigned.
Dosage Calculation Exam
- When: Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 8 a.m.
- Where: RRC 3334 (Computer Lab), located in Building 3000, 3rd floor.
- Review your dosage calculations! Once you have access to the course in Blackboard, there are dosage calculations tutorials under “Resources”.
- Failure to pass the Dosage Calculation Exam on the first attempt will be managed according to the policy for Critical Skill Performance Mastery in the Student Handbook.
Course Mastery Skills Check-off
- Mastery Skills Check-offs will cover: PPE/Physical Assessment, Medication Administration, including PO and Injections (IM, sub-q)/Enteral Tubes. Dates of check-offs are listed on the calendar, times as assigned.
- You must pass all check-offs satisfactorily to continue in the course. Failure to pass the Mastery Level Check-off on the first attempt will be managed according to the policy for Critical Skill Performance Mastery in the Student Handbook.
Clinical Schedule
- Clinical will be composed of both on campus simulation clinical and onsite facility clinical. Simulation clinical will take place at the ACC Highland Learning Center Simulation Lab (HLC).
- When: Check the course calendar. Dates/times will vary depending on clinical assignment. Clinical assignments will be made at orientation for most students.
- Additional time at the clinical site for clinical preparation may be required prior to clinical each week.
Clinical Orientation
- When: Students will be oriented to the clinical course as determined by the clinical instructor.
- Orientation to onsite clinicals will take place between February 2, 2023 and February 4, 2023 depending on onsite clinical assignment.
- Orientation to simulation clinical will take place on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the ACC Highland Learning Center Simulation Lab (HLC)..
Clinical Preparation
- What to bring: Students are expected to have their ACC ID badge, uniform, and all required equipment prior to the first clinical day.
- Daily/weekly clinical assignments will be at the discretion of each instructor. Amount of time needed for preparation will differ depending on the nature of the assignment.
